The Fight Against Solar Leasing

Things are starting to heat up!  As homeowners become more aware about going Solar, it's becoming even more evident that Solar leasing is a terrible option.  Simply put, Solar leases benefit the company providing them and burn homeowners.  At American Sentry Solar, we put the customer first and offer the option to buy the system outright which allows you to own your piece of the sun!

Arizona is now leading the fight to impose rules and regulations to protect homeowners against companies offering solar leasing.  The new rules, which go into effect Jan. 1, require solar leasing companies to tell potential customers how much their systems will cost over the lifetime of their contracts, many of which are as long as 20 years. To put this into perspective:

"Solar companies such as SolarCity, Sunrun Inc. and Sungevity find investors to buy bundles of home-panel systems and take advantages of federal tax credits for renewable power, which expire at the end of next year.  The companies then find homeowners willing to have panels installed on their roofs in return for paying a monthly fee." (http://www.wsj.com/articles/solar-power-fight-hits-home-in-arizona-1438335000#livefyre-comment)

Own Your Piece of the Sun!

At American Design and Build/American Sentry Solar we pride ourselves in equipping homeowners with the necessary information to make sure they're making informed decisions to benefit themselves.  The main takeaway here is that leasing solar panels rarely makes sense as an option to go solar.  Purchasing your solar system outright will provide you with the greatest amount of savings.
