President Obama and the first family are sending a strong message of energy efficiency to the American people. "The White House has begun installing American-made solar panels on the first family’s residence as part of an energy retrofit that will improve the overall energy efficiency of the building,” according to a White House official that confirmed the news with The Washington Post yesterday morning. Since 2010 the Obama administration has declared they were going to install solar panels to coincide with the President's stand for renewable energy. And it looks like this week it's finally going to be done!
American Design and Build couldn't be more proud of this moment in history, as we understand and appreciate the benefits of more and more people getting energy from the sun. Not only will these panels provide a more energy efficient home for the first family, but should also set the tone of how rewarding and profitable going solar can be for all Americans. The Washington Post explains that "Obama has set a new goal of having 20 percent of the federal government’s energy use come from renewable power by 2020, which includes the Army, Navy, and Air Force deploying a combined 3 gigawatts of renewable energy by the end of the decade." Here's to many more years of Presidential solar panels and green living!
